General Election Information
The City Clerk serves as the City’s Elections Official and coordinates with the County of Yolo in the conduct of municipal elections. The City Clerk provides nomination packets and general guidelines to those candidates interested in running for office. We accept all nomination packet filings and submit to the Yolo County Elections Office. You may view the Yolo Elections web page.
The next General Municipal Election for the City will be held on November 5, 2024. City Council Districts 2, 4 and 5 are up for election. See the Woodland Council District Map for Council District locations.
Nomination Period
*The nomination period is now closed.*
The candidate nomination period opens on Monday, July 15, 2024 and closes on Friday, August 9, 2024. If an incumbent does not file nomination papers by 5:00 PM on Friday, August 9, 2024, the nomination period will be extended until Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
Candidates must obtain and complete the official nomination documents issued by the Office of the City Clerk during the official nomination period.

City Council Resolutions
City Council Resolution No. 8330 (PDF), Resolution of the City Council of the City of Woodland Calling a General Municipal Election for the Election of three Council Members by District, and the placement of a General Tax Measure on the Ballot for the General Municipal Election for the submission to the qualified voters of an Ordinance to enact a second supplemental General Transactions and Use Tax (Sales Tax) at the rate of one cent (1¢), and requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of Yolo to consolidate a General Municipal Election to be held on November 5, 2024, with the Statewide General Election to be held on that date pursuant to §10403 of the Elections Code.
