Boards, Commissions, & Advisory Bodies

The City of Woodland invites interested members of the community to participate in the process of local government by serving on one of several boards, commissions, and committees.

The City values public involvement in the city's decision-making process and City boards and commissions are one vital component of effective citizen engagement, providing input on city issues and promoting representation of our diverse community.

Make a difference in your community by getting involved.  Appointments are for three- or four-year terms, unless the vacancy is due to an incumbent resigning mid-term.  Candidates are invited to apply for positions in each of the seven advisory bodies.

Boards:

Library Board and Personnel Board

Commissions:

Commission on Aging, Manufactured Homes Fair Practices Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission and Planning Commission

Committees:

Appointment to Boards, Commissions, and Committees:

All positions are voluntary and appointed by the City Council.  The time commitment for each board/commission/committee varies, with some meeting on a regular schedule, while others meet on an on-call basis.

If you would like to be considered for appointment to any of the Boards, Commissions, or Committees, please submit an application (PDF) to the City Clerk via email, US Mail, or dropping the application off at City Hall, 300 First Street, Woodland, CA.

The general qualifications for serving on a Board, Commission, or Committee can be found in the Woodland Municipal Code Section 2.04.060, which states:

In addition to the specific requirements pertaining to boards, commissions and committees appearing in later sections of this code, each candidate shall meet the following qualifications and conditions to qualify, and to remain qualified, for appointment:

B. Each appointee shall not have a conflict of interest as defined under State law or this chapter, and no candidate who is a City employee shall be appointed to a board, commission or committee which affects his or her area of employment;

C. No appointee may serve on more than one board, commission or committee at any one time;

D. No appointee shall be absent for four unexcused absences from regular board, commission or committee meetings during any one continuous 12-month period without automatically forfeiting his or her appointment to such board, commission or committee.
