[ARCHIVED] Public Information Meeting Regarding Kentucky Avenue Project

PRESS RELEASE

City of Woodland

300 First Street

Woodland, CA 95695

Kentucky Avenue Widening and Complete Streets Project (CIP # 04-07)

The project contractor, Teichert Construction, will be hosting a public information meeting at The Elephant Shack located at 39492 Kentucky Avenue, Woodland, CA  95695 on Wednesday, September 5th at 5:30 pm to discuss upcoming traffic and access changes associated with the Kentucky Avenue reconstruction project.

Teichert is paving the newly built roadway between College and East streets the week of August 27th. Teichert anticipates shifting traffic to the new roadway and begin reconstruction of the existing pavement in this same area starting mid-September.

Attendance at the public meeting is encouraged as it is an opportunity to learn about the current status of the project, upcoming changes to traffic and access and to have questions answered regarding the project.

During construction there will continue to be significant traffic impacts to Kentucky Avenue including reduced access, lane closures and some short-term full road closures.  Access to adjacent homes/businesses will continue to be available.  Signs continue to be in place to notify the public that the project is funded by Measure E and State/Federal Grant Funding and that all businesses are open during construction.

Kentucky Avenue between East and College streets, will have two lanes in each direction with turn lanes and raised medians.  Between College and West streets the roadway will have one lane in each direction with a center turn lane.  The project will construct landscape, separated sidewalk, drainage improvements, raised medians, a new traffic signal at College St., and modifications to the signals at West and East streets.  The roadway configuration will include buffered bike lanes between East and West Streets and narrowed travel lane widths to accommodate a reduced speed limit of 35 mph.

For questions regarding construction or the public meeting, please contact Michelle Gudahl, Teichert Construction, at mgudahl@teichert.com  or 530-304-9312.
