Leaf drop season

Leaf Drop Season has Begun

From November 1 to January 31 single-family residents can place green waste piles in the street weekly for service. Make sure to follow the rules to ensure your pile gets picked up:
  • Piles may not be larger than 5 ft long, 4 ft wide, and 4 ft high and may not contain branches thicker than 6 inches in diameter.
  • You may have multiple piles as long it does not exceed your property line and are noticeably separated from other piles and objects such as carts and vehicles.
  • Piles must contain plant material only and may never include grass clippings. Always place grass clippings in your organics cart.
  • Also, pumpkins and other food scraps do not belong in street piles since they can attract unwanted pests and make a mess.
Visit the Green Waste Street Pile Program webpage for full details on the program rules and other information.
Cooking oil

Cooking Oil Recycling

This holiday season, don’t forget that FOGS (fats, oils, and grease) cannot be poured down your drain. Small amounts such as spoiled dressings, bacon grease, or shallow fry oil can be dumped in your organics cart.

Larger amounts of cooled cooking oil can be recycled for free at the Water Pollution Control Facility in Woodland. Call (530) 661-2057 or (530) 661-2058 to schedule an appointment.

Medication Take Back Ending

Police Department Pharmaceutical Kiosk Going Away Soon

While we’re sad to see the Police Department’s pharmaceutical drop off bin leaving in the coming months, we’re excited to promote even easier ways for residents to responsibly dispose of unused or expired medications through the Med-Project. Visit med-project.org to have mail-back packages delivered to you at no charge.

Residents are still able to take their pharmaceuticals to the kiosks at Corner Drug, Rite Aid, and Woodland Pharmacy. For more information on these locations, search for “Medications” in the Waste Wizard

Avoid Over-Watering, Adjust your Irrigation Schedule Seasonally

Shorter days and cooler temperatures means landscapes need less water. Even if there is less rain in the forecast. When changing your clock, remember to adjust your irrigation run time.

If you want to avoid over-watering your lawn when we do get rain consider installing a Weather-Based Irrigation Controller (WBIC). These smart controllers use weather data to automatically program the ideal watering schedule for your landscape.

The City offers an exclusive discount for a Rachio 3 irrigation controller and a WBIC rebate up to $150! To learn more about city rebates, and how to claim your Rachio 3 controller discount click here.

Upcoming Holiday Reminders

City Offices will be closed November 11, 24 & 25 for the holidays.
Waste Management will be closed on November 24. Thursday services will be on Friday, and Friday services will be on Saturday for that week only.
