Pioneer Avenue (south of Gibson) - Road Widening & Traffic Signal Upgrades

The widening and restriping of Pioneer Ave. in front of Pioneer High School was completed the week of August 14. The traffic signal at Patriot Way began normal operation before the first day of school. Work on the new signal at Farmers Central and Pioneer is nearing completion, as all signal poles and surface infrastructure are in place. We currently anticipate that this project will be complete before the end of September.

Harry Lorenzo & Gibson - New Signal Installation

The work at Harry Lorenzo and Gibson will continue into the school year. All curb ramps have been completed, ensuring that students have a continuous path to walk to and from school. The traffic signal poles and signal infrastructure are in place and the contractor will now focus on completing the remaining work to remove a portion of the median to open the intersection and construct the north/south bound turn pockets. This work is currently scheduled to be complete before December 1.

Jack Slaven Park

The 90-day plant establishment and maintenance period will end on September 21 and the park is scheduled to open on September 22. Until then, the park will remain closed and fenced to allow the plants to fully establish. Remaining work on the path lighting and electrical system will continue during the establishment period.

Rick Gonzales Sr. Park

The contractor has finished irrigation, landscaping, and the tennis and basketball courts. Remaining work includes construction of the decomposed granite paths, electrical work, and sod installation. Once construction is complete, the maintenance period for plant establishment will begin. We anticipate the successful completion of the 90-day plant establishment and maintenance period by late fall.

Spring Lake Park

Concrete work is nearly complete, including all concrete paths and picnic areas. The restroom building has been placed and the playground and shade structures are being installed. Irrigation is nearly complete and planting of trees, shrubs, and other landscape has begun. The multi-use court asphalt work will begin in late August. Remaining work includes construction of the decomposed granite paths, installation of the path lighting system, and playground / court surfacing. Once park construction is complete, the maintenance period for plant establishment will begin. We anticipate the successful completion of the 90-day plant establishment and maintenance period by late fall.

Bike and Pedestrian Overcrossing Project

Drainage issues have been corrected by the contractor and additional sidewalk work will be completed the week of August 21. The site will continue to be closed to the public until all project issues are resolved. We currently anticipate that the overcrossing will open to the public in September. City staff thanks Woodlanders for their patience with this project.
