This year we'll be celebrating the Library's 150th anniversary, starting in June. We've got a jam-packed year of programming and events for all ages.

Stay and Play

Runs Feb 1-March 14 and April 11-May 16th

Thursdays, 10-12 in the Leake Room. Geared towards children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. Runs Feb 1- March 21. Includes storytime, snacks, and monthly guest speakers discussing topics surrounding childcare. 

Tween Library Club (TLC)

Runs Jan-May
A club that focuses on friendship, fun, and community. Ages 9-12. Monthly meetings, on the first Tuesday of the month 3:30-4:30 in Square One. To join, email sara.vickers@cityofwoodland.org

Awesome Readers

Runs Jan-May
Join us for a book discussion geared towards children in 3rd-5th grade. Last Tuesday of the month, 3:30-4:30 in the Leake Room.  Email Sara.Vickers@cityofwoodland.org to register. Space limited. Registration required.

Chess Club

Runs Jan-May
Join us for chess at the library! Tuesdays from 4-6, Teen Area, open to all ages and all experience levels.

Cardboard Club

Runs Jan-May
Join our Cardboard Club! Come create with cardboard in the Leake Center. Offered the third Tuesday of the month, no registration necessary, drop in and drop off! Ages 5-12.

Afterschool Program

Runs Jan-May
For 4-12 year olds.
3:30-4:30 in the Children’s Area.  

  • Character Scavenger Hunt
    Find the hidden book character and win a small trinket on Tuesdays.
  • Kid & family Art and Crafts 
    Get crafty with our art cart on Wednesdays. Come and create!
  • Lego Club
    Come enjoy building with Legos and add your creations to our display case on Thursdays.

Girls Who Code II 

Feb 26-April 29
Sign up for Girls Who Code 2 starting on Feb 26-April 29! Join us Mondays from 3:30-4:30 in the Leake Room for a more in-depth session where girls will be learning an introductory course to Python using VS Code taught by two Robotics Team Students from Pioneer High School. Must have already taken Girls Who Code I within the last year. Registration required, space limited, ages 9-12. Get more info by contacting sara.vickers@cityofwoodland.org

In n Out Cover to Cover Challenge!

Join us from March 2 through April 13 for the In-N-Out Cover to Cover Challenge! Kids ages 4-12 read 5 books of their level and earn a free hamburger certificate from In-N-Out. Each child may earn up to three certificates during the duration of the challenge. Register at wpl.beanstack.org or at the library once the program begins!

Creek Explorers 

Runs April 4-May 9
Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 in the Leake Room 
Be inspired by the bountiful, biodiverse beauty of Putah Creek! Learn about the connections between the flowing water, flora, & fauna of the watershed while creating nature-inspired works of art & craft.
During this series, we will create clay & stone bowls inspired by salmon redds, weave willows just like beavers, paint watercolor maps of the creek, and much more! 
No registration necessary.

Día de Los Niños

April 26
This community event celebrates kids, diversity, and reading and the library will be there. Come enjoy a craft kit and book giveaway: every child gets a free, new book to take home! Friday, April 26 from 3-6 at Ferns Park. There will be food, entertainment, and resources for the whole family. 

Read, Rumble, and Rev

April 27
We are excited to be hosting our annual Read, Rumble, and Rev event this month. Saturday, April 27th in our parking lot from 11-1, with the first hour quiet and horn free!

Panels and Pizza, a Teen Graphic Novels Club, will have two of the best things--graphic novels and pizza! Email Sara at Sara.Day@cityofwoodland.org to reserve your copy of the book.

Community Service Crafternoon

Want to give back to your community? Join us for our Teen Community Service Crafternoon in Square One from 4:00-5:30 to make a craft for donation! All proceeds will be donated and teens will receive volunteer hours.

Spring Break at the Library

Staying in Woodland for Spring Break? Teens can join us in the Leake Room for a week of fun activities at the Library including movies, painting, and more!

Community Craft Nights

Every Monday from 5-7pm, Square One opens for patrons of all ages to come make and create together. Staff will guide participants through 3-5 selected projects to take home.

Adult Crafternoon

Join Lori and other adults in Square One on Wednesdays at 5:30pm or Saturdays at 1pm to make one of those nifty crafts you've seen scroll by and wanted to try. Sign up at cityofwoodland.org/squareone
