Tip of the Month

It’s pumpkin carving season. Save those seeds to roast for a tasty snack or place them in your organics cart along with the rest of the pumpkin guts for composting. Your food waste could help local farmers grow next season’s pumpkins. Remember to remove any candles or lights first, unless they’re made of pure beeswax which is compostable. Pumpkins should always go in your organics cart, not in street piles. While it might seem convenient, pumpkins and other food can create a mess on the street and attract pests. Yikes!

SAC Members and Volunteers pick up garbage at the Coastal Cleanup Event

Thank You, Woodland!

The Woodland Sustainability Advisory Committee thanks all the volunteers who came out last month and made a difference at our local Coastal Cleanup here in Woodland by helping us collect plastic and man-made trash from our waterways. While Woodland is far inland, our storm drains and many irrigation ditches eventually feed into our rivers and, ultimately, the ocean. What happens in Woodland affects the world around us, so let's make it a positive impact! Visit EnviroWoodland on Instagram for more photos of the event.
