Priority Initiatives

  • Support the establishment of a global center of innovation for food, agriculture and health as a catalyst project for the Woodland Research & Technology Park.
  • Facilitate stakeholder conversations focused on improving local workforce development initiatives
  • Implement marketing, events, and promotions that drive increased business activity and hotel stays; Promote Woodland as a destination
  • Focus on inclusive economic development and diversifying Woodland’s job base through retention, expansion, and attraction of technology-based industries
  • Partner with County Fair Mall ownership to develop new, viable reuse for the mall
  • Evaluate downtown parking utilization and implement changes to continually improve management and user experience
  • Improve communication with businesses in all areas and sectors
  • Incentivize economic growth in sectors that generate substantial sales tax revenue

Continuing Initiatives

  • Continue to partner with Yolo County in enforcing unpermitted street vendor activity while providing a pathway for vendors to become licensed and operate in conformance with codes
  • Advance pre-development of the Woodland Research & Technology Park
  • Support the construction of new industrial space
  • Continue to promote The Food Front industry partnership
  • Lighting, landscaping, and public art enhancements (with a focus on Downtown and expand throughout the community)

AgStart is a non-profit startup incubator for ag & food companies located in Downtown Woodland. AgStart provides entrepreneurs with the facilities they need to grow: co-working space, meeting rooms, dedicated offices, the Yocha Dehe Wet Lab and the Bayer Lifehub California@AgStart (wet lab benches and shared lab equipment) and Raley’s Food Lab (a commercial-grade kitchen).
