What is SolarAPP+?

SolarAPP+, short for Solar Automated Permit Processing, automates the residential solar plan review process for issuing permits to licensed contractors to install code-compliant residential photovoltaic (PV) systems. Submittal instructions are provided below.

Apply for solar using SolarAPP+

Step 1: Eligibility to use SolarAPP+

  • Residential structures only (1 and 2 residential units and ADUs) 
  • Licensed contractors only
  • No ballasted systems 
  • Please review the SolarAPP+ Eligible Systems  for acceptable projects

Step 2: Submit for automated review through SolarAPP+

  • Go to the SolarAPP+ website
  • Click Sign in or Register to get started
  • Contractor license information is required to complete this step
  • The City of Woodland permit fees plus a processing fee from SolarAPP+ will be charged.
  • Download the SolarAPP+ approval documents

Step 3: Apply for Permit

  • Email CDD-Building with the following information:
    • Subject: SolarAPP+ Approval ID:[SAXXXXXXXX-X-X-X]
    • Body: Attach the SolarAPP+ approval documents from Step 2, and include any additional information regarding your project.
  • CDD Building will reply to you email with a Permit Number and your inspection card. You will need this to schedule your inspection.
