Permit Plan Review Process Submittal Requirements
The City of Woodland believes that the documents submitted for approval serves as a communication tool and must effectively communicate to the building official as well as to the contractor. It is hoped that a standardized, well documented, set of drawings and specifications will increase the understanding of plan reviewers and reduce the time required to review a set of documents.
New residential buildings, or additions and remodels to a residential structure require plans, specifications, energy calculations, and may require soils reports and other data. The documentation is routed for review by all pertinent City Divisions to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations before building permits are issued. Permit applicants should allow a minimum of 2 to 4 weeks for initial plan check activities to be performed depending on the complexity of their project. In order to provide fast and efficient plan check services, we utilize in-house plan check personnel as well as consultant plan review agencies.
Over-the-Counter Plan Checks
Over-the-counter plan checks are routinely provided for basic repair and replacement work such as termite repair, re-roofing, mechanical equipment change-outs, minor demolition work, etc. Over-the-counter plan checks are typically not provided for new construction work or for projects involving building additions, alterations, and remodels.
